Job Description
JOB PURPOSE: The Rogers lab at the University of Wyoming is funded by US DOE BES grant DE-SC0025303 to conduct research in Exploring the Nature of f-Element Soft Donor Interactions Using Electronically Tunable Azolate Ionic Liquids. The part time Associate Research Scientist will assist in this effort by developing nanomanipulator techniques to transfer crystals of novel f-element azole complexes directly from reaction flasks to multi-platform sample holders for further study including by single crystal X-ray diffraction, Raman, IR, etc. It is anticipated that the techniques developed at UW in the Rogers lab will be transferred to collaborative work at the Colorado School of Mines using highly radioactive transuranic isotopes which require remote handling.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead research projects in the Rogers Lab
Contribute to publications in peer reviewed journals
Present results at nationally and internationally recognized conferences
Create, share, and archive reproducible and robust data
Participate in group activities and outreach
Collaborate with other internal and external researchers
Contribute to writing proposals.
COMPETENCIES:
A strong background in instrumentation design and construction;
A strong background in analytical chemistry;
Experience with lanthanide chemistry;
Good programming skills (knowledge of Python, C# preferred);
Capable of developing new approaches for advancing research goals;
Experience collaborating and/or being part of a team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A PhD in Chemistry, or related disciplines
Strong oral and written English communication skills
Highly driven and self-motivated individuals
Able to work safely and effectively in laboratories/technical settings.
