Assistant Director of Admissions, Southern California Regional Recruitment

Responsible for college-wide undergraduate recruitment, outreach, and territory management for assigned territory - Southern California (and other areas as office operations require) - in alignment with strategic enrollment goals. Responsible for development and execution of a recruitment plan which, in some instances, is tailored to the specific territory demographic. Assists with virtual programming, delivering presentations, and being responsive to prospective student needs. Participate in and assist in coordinating recruitment and yield activities, including regional receptions; high school, community college, and community-based organization visits, college fairs, and virtual enrollment programs: application evaluation, and communication initiatives (email, text, phone, social media). This position reports to the Director of First Year Admission.
Requirements
Essential Job Functions
1. Recruitment and Outreach
Execute office-wide recruitment efforts to assigned geographic territories. Represent the institution at college fairs, transfer fairs, community college, community based organizations, and high schools; communicate with prospective students, parents, and high school/community college counselors. This includes scheduling, confirming, notifying prospective students at each high school of the visit, and visiting 3-4 schools per day throughout the fall recruitment period of September-November, and the Spring recruitment period of February-April. Participate in the virtual visit experience by conducting virtual information sessions, interviews, admit on the spot appointments, meet & greet appointments, transcript evaluations; maintain continuous contact with prospective students via e-mail, text, phone. Plan regional receptions for prospective and admitted students. Identify and assist in engaging alumni in recruitment efforts. Attend and help coordinate on-campus signature recruitment and yield events, including but not limited to Fall Preview Day, SMC Saturday, Transfer Admitted Student Reception, Affinity Admitted Student Receptions and Counselor Fly-In. This position coordinates signature virtual programming for prospective students but may coordinate additional virtual admission outreach events. Collaborate with campus partners in order to promote the College to prospective students, parents, counselors, and community organizations. Respond to all phone calls and emails within 1-2 Business days.
2. Territory Management
Assist with creation, maintenance, and implementation of a strategic plan for student recruitment and admission in accordance with institutional goals; ongoing assessment of strategies in the plan. Manage assigned geographic territory, which includes coordination and implementation of outreach and yield activities. Compile, analyze, and report data for territory; report on any trends within territories; report regularly on admissions funnel for territories and recruitment/yield activities throughout the funnel.
3. Application Management
Read and evaluate admissions applications for geographic territories. Assist in holistic application review; assist in follow-up for application completion; recommend admission decision to the Dean of Admissions.
4. Student Yield
Maintain responsive communication protocols including prompt response to inquiries; participate in planning and implementation of student yield events on campus. Tele-recruit to convert students to next levels of admissions funnel, including communications to inquiries, applicants, admitted students and deposited students.
5. Southwest Recruitment Coordination
Reestablish and develop College's presence in Southern California, Lead admission case studies with high school students and parents. Create partnerships and execute initiatives with high schools, community colleges, and community based organizations. Join regional admission organizations such as Regional Assistant Director of Admissions of California, Western Association for College Admission Counselors. Recruit primarily in Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Texas
6. Other Duties as Assigned
Explore new initiatives, required to come to campus for on campus events and signature admitted student programs, two weeks in office (June and August) for Annual Retreat and Recruitment Intake, division meetings, and one-day application standardization meeting in November.
Qualifications
Education: REQUIRED: BA and/or equivalent knowledge, training & experience PREFERRED: BA
Experience: 4 years of experience in higher education, admissions and recruitment preferred
Skills/Abilities: Outstanding verbal and written and interpersonal communication skills, goal-oriented and ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding environment; cultural awareness and sensitivity, be team-oriented, possess a high level of initiative and willingness to contribute to entire recruitment effort.
Other Requirements: Weekend and travel work required. Ability to drive a car with a valid license.
Salary Description $68,000-$72,000
