What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a technologist in Org 7568-1, Active Ceramics Manufacturing, for a Product Quality Assurance position. You will act as a technical resource supporting all aspects of Active Ceramic acceptance activities, production and development documentation review, ownership of General Procedures documenting current work practices, and helping with any audits that may come up.

On any given day you may be called on to:

  • Work closely with the engineering team and operational floor to solve issues, document any deviances or non-compliances, and prepare product acceptance packages
  • Own the Active Ceramics operating procedures for general floor practices (these cover safety, security, and quality)
  • Become familiar with any necessary quality requirements needed to fulfill your job role and being able to provide guidance in how to apply them
  • Review production and development data across a variety of record-keeping systems
  • Collaborate with QARs and auditors when questions arise
  • Become trained in Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and participating in or leading continuous improvement activities as assigned in the department
  • Become trained in Job Instruction (JI) methodology and helping the 7560 Group train operational personnel in these method

Due to the nature of work, successful candidate must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$62,400 - $120,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • High School diploma plus 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q-Level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Associates degree or higher in English or a STEM field
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to develop and present ideas and results in oral and written form
  • Detail-oriented
  • Experience working in a quality inspection or other engineering role
  • Familiarity and experience reading and interpreting quality criteria
  • Well-developed social and communication skills; and ability to work with a diverse team environment as well as an ability to build and manage effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced/schedule driven environment on multiple simultaneous activities, prioritizing work as appropriate
  • Experience reviewing drawings, production records, interpreting results, and inputting data
  • Experience with inventory planning systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Active security clearance

About Our Team:

The Active Ceramics Manufacturing Department at Sandia National Laboratories provides a broad range of processing options for many types and compositions of ceramic components. Our capabilities range from chemical synthesis of powders, through powder processing, billet formation and machining, to complete component fabrication and testing.
