Job Description
Required Degree: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Commercial Music, Composition, or related field. The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years experience in composing for visual mediums required, 5 years preferred.
Proven experience scoring to picture. Please attach video links to scoring works in the required cover letter.
In depth knowledge of MIDI and Digital Audio Workstations required i.e, Protools, Logic Pro, Cubase, etc.
Demonstrable competency in MIDI production, sample libraries, and modern film scoring techniques.
Duties/Expectations:
Firm commitment to the mission and AIM;s of BYU
Instructor for Music 489 Film Scoring class on Thursdays from 4:00-5:50pm, Evening School, for fall semester 2025.
Film spotting and cue development
MIDI orchestration and mock-up
DAW workflows (Logic Pro, Pro Tools, etc.)
Scoring for a variety of media formats
Evaluate student projects and provide feedback
Regularly respond to student inquiries and support student learning
Collaborate with faculty in the Commercial Music area to align curriculum objectives
Serve as an excellent role model for students
