Pay Range: $77,640 - $126,170/year

General Responsibilities

To support the Quality and Patient Safety work of the UAB Medicine Enterprise Office of the Chief Medical and Quality Officer. To focus on data aggregation from disparate systems into formats usable by analytical teams. To identify and validate quality and patient safety data from multiple systems, including the UAB Enterprise Data Warehouse, the electronic medical record, the Vizient Clinical Database, Medallia, TrendTracker, and various national clinical registries. To work closely with the UAB Medicine Enterprise Quality Team to develop a timely and reliable source of quality and patient safety data to inform our clinical and operational teams on quality priorities, opportunities, and achievements. To be intimately involved with the preparation for the EPIC quality transition.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Works closely with internal and external users from the Enterprise Quality Team, the Quality & Patient Safety Teams, and the various clinical registry participants, including national registries, registry software vendors, registry abstraction vendors.

2. Leads large, multifunctional projects for clinical quality, registry and patient safety tracking.

3. Identifies reliable sources of quality and patient safety data and test for reliability, accuracy, and consistency.

4. Creates functional user data requirements, business objectives and perform detailed user needs assessments and definitions for reports and formal documentation.

5. Performs feasibility studies, translating requirements into appropriate recommendations.

6. Designs, implements, and tests data aggregation and management methodologies.

7. Prepares detailed designs, specs, and test plans.

8. Identifies conflicting business practices and integration issues, suggesting alternative solutions.environments.

9. Works directly with our epidemiology team to identify and manage bias within cohorted patients for equitable comparisons.

10. Provides technical expertise as a functional member of the Enterprise Quality Team to support the analysis, design, and development of quality, registry and patient safety data analyses, reports, and applications. Regularly confers with users and provides feedback.

11. Works with the EDW team to provide them with appropriately useful data for a variety of special and recurring analyses and reports for presentation and/or publication.

12. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field and four (4) years of related experience. Strong clincial data experience and experience with MS Power BI and Fabric preferred. Demonstrated work experience with an EHR in a clinical environment and EPIC experience preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Excellent understanding of clinical data and workflows. Working knowledge of SQL for reporting and databases.

Working knowledge of Python, PERL or other data scripting language.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work as part of a team
