Postdoctoral Associate- Biostatistics and Mass Spectrometry

Summary
The Division of Surgical Oncology is seeking an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Associate (Ph.D.) with a strong background in bioinformatics, statistics, and/or computer science to join the Eberlin Lab for Medical Mass Spectrometry. These skills would be applied to large mass spectrometry and mass spectrometry imaging datasets for clinical research, focusing on malignancies including breast and lung cancer and intraoperative studies.
Job Duties
- Develops, implements and manages computational workflows and data analysis pipelines for processing and interpreting mass spectrometry and mass spectrometry imaging data.
- Conducts git versioning control of R-based lab-wide scripts for basic statistical analysis and preprocessing.
- Performs statistical analyses on large datasets to provide biological insights.
- Integrates mass spectrometry imaging data with other multimodal imaging techniques (e.g., spatial transcriptomics) for comprehensive spatial analysis.
- Establishes new research protocols and procedures, including in computational tasks where data visualization, preprocessing, or interpretation can be improved.
- Devises and deploys custom machine learning approaches where applicable.
- Provides feedback and guidance to wet-lab scientists on experimental design.
- Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
- Assist with grant proposal writing and progress reports.
- Leads clinical studies and participates in research involving human subjects.
- Supports supervision of research staff, including graduate and undergraduate students.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer/Data Science, Statistics or a related field.
- Experience with statistical analysis, including but not limited to regression analysis and machine learning.
- Self-motivated, with an ability to drive projects forward to meet deadlines.
