Job Summary

Responsible for providing first point of contact for student counsel and support for Bethel’s student population and for the proactive cultivation of substantive relationships with students for the purpose of supporting their overall success as students.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities



Student Advising – 80%
Provides excellent student care.
Provide advising for students during the admissions process.
Provide advising for students after acceptance.
Provide advising for students in early college programs, with a goal of matriculating to Bethel programs.
Partners with faculty and other departments for registration, scheduling and advising best practices.
Maintain the email box and program phone line.
Early College Programs - 10%
Develop an understanding of early college and other Bethel programs. Serve as the primary advisor for all Early College programs and pathways, for students, faculty and staff.
Understand all early college pathways and which options serve which student the best.
Advising Best Practices - 10%
Use student-centered best practices for advising.
Participate in professional development opportunities as available and serve on committees that pertain to academic advising and Early College Advising in order to provide expert service to students.

Required Skills

Must be an active listener with a heart for students, particularly those at the early college level.
Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google suites.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, dealing with frequent interruptions, and turning over a high volume of inquiries.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
Must be able to manage conflict.
Must be detail-oriented.
Must be able to understand and articulate requirements for academic majors, general education and academic policies.
Must have initiative to develop new systems and procedures.
Working knowledge of PSEO programs.
