The Data Architect plays a strategic role in designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise data architecture that supports analytics, reporting, and operational decision-making across the University of Missouri System. This role collaborates closely with data engineers and data analysts to ensure data solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with institutional goals.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Design and maintain enterprise data models and metadata frameworks that support analytics, reporting, and data governance initiatives.
• Lead the development of scalable data pipelines and integration strategies across cloud and on-premise platforms.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects and data governance leads to align data architecture with institutional policies and compliance standards.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on data modeling, data warehousing, and BI tool integration (e.g., Power BI).
• Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical data solutions.
• Support the implementation of data governance frameworks
• Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and tools to enhance data architecture capabilities.
Shift
Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
This position will be mostly remote, but the incumbent will be expected to report to the office as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or analytics.
• Proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and ETL frameworks (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Fabric, Informatica).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and modern data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Synapse).
• Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
• Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and change management/version control methodologies such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• Experience in higher education or public sector data environments.
• Familiarity with data literacy initiatives and organizational change management.
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer, or Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000 Commensurate with experience
