Job Description:

The Beacom School of Business at The University of South Dakota is a vibrant, internationally accredited business school that has served students since 1927. It is the State's flagship business school and a regional leader with consistently high national rankings.

We are seeking a self-motivated individual with a passion for helping students reach their potential. The successful candidate will bring a positive energy, creative ideas, and a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to advising on-campus and online business students. The Beacom School of Business academic advisor duties include meeting with students to make their academic plan, reaching out to students for whom concerns have been raised, creating and implementing Beacom's tutoring program, assisting during campus summer registration programs and serving as the point of contact for services provided by the Beacom School of Business.

The Beacom School of Business is the leading business school in South Dakota and the region offering students a quality business education that prepares students to be leading professionals. The School boasts ten undergraduate majors and three graduate programs with six specializations. Faculty in every discipline leverage the connections with professionals in the field to create unparalleled learning opportunities. Students manage a portfolio of $3 million, excel in national selling competitions, and provide consulting services to businesses across the state. Our programs are fully accredited by AACSB International and nationally ranked by Princeton Review, US News and World Report and others. Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years working experience. Demonstrated effectiveness in written and interpersonal communication with students, both individually and in group presentations. At least three years of experience with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, and travel occasionally.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in business, higher education, student services or counseling, and at least one year of experience working in advising or related functions in higher education. The best applicant will have knowledge of academic records and degree requirements, and experience using software for customer relationship management.
