Summary

The Research Assistant will perform responsible research work that requires planning, implementing, and occasionally supervising limited research activities for clinical and laboratory studies on tropical infectious diseases. Works under general supervision to ensure studies are conducted according to approved protocols, regulatory requirements, and established research procedures.

Job Duties

  • Designs and conducts limited research studies.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Performs systematic electronic health record (EHR) reviews to identify eligible subjects for clinical research studies involving tropical infectious diseases.
  • Collects, compiles, and organizes clinical, laboratory, and epidemiologic data in standardized databases (e.g., REDCap) following established procedures approved by the supervisor.
  • Documents and interprets results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
  • Assists with general lab maintenance, equipment setup, and other limited research environment support activities.
  • Assists in preliminary statistical analysis and figure/table preparation for presentations, manuscripts, and grant submissions.
  • Supports the preparation of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations by compiling literature reviews, references, and data summaries.
  • Assists with drafting sections under faculty guidance and tracks submission timelines.
  • Contributes to research proposals by assembling supporting documents and data tables related to ongoing tropical infectious disease research.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic sciene or a related field.
