Job Summary
This position will work across faculty, campus administration, and employers, to identify and implement best practices in the workflows of internship experiences across credit-based internships, non-credit-based internships, and cooperative education assignments. The role will lead internship development, process improvements, and policy alignment for the campus. Additionally, this role will oversee the Jags On Campus internship program, which includes the operation of paid, undergraduate interns across campus throughout the academic year.
The Assistant Director will supervise the following 2 FTEs:
- Internship Coordinator for the Jags On-Campus program
- Cyber Career Success Coordinator based in the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center (GCITC)
This Assistant Director position requires a high attention to detail, the ability to establish rapport and partnerships across internal and external stakeholders, and manage critical projects that help to support the University's strategic goal to maintain the Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement. The individual will generate efficiencies and enhance our efforts in developing a robust internship process for the campus that optimizes our program offerings to be customer-friendly to students and employers.
Responsibilities
CAREER SERVICES PROFESSIONALISM/TEAMWORK/LEADERSHIP: Maintain professional affiliations and memberships in organizations to represent the university and Career Services. Focus on areas for professional development to keep ahead of trends in managing the program area. This includes conferences, workshops, technology instruction, and reading resources pertinent to a specific area of management. Conduct all roles and responsibilities as a professional model to students and as a professional representative of the university to the community (attire, attitude, cooperative spirit, social media, confidentiality, and professional demeanor). Always maintain positive customer service relations with internal and external customers by being polite, punctual, flexible, organized, and accessible. Establish seamless communication with Career Services colleagues to keep informed of office initiatives/needs in various areas, collaborate and problem-solve office issues and needs in a timely and professional manner.
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT EXTERNAL TO CAMPUS: Build partnerships between the university and external communities (business, the public sector, and not-for-profit entities) to facilitate applied learning and employment opportunities for students. Lead projects tied to ensuring a highly collaborative, efficient, and service-friendly internship process to support faculty, students, employers, and administration. Expand and nurture employer relationships to benefit the office and academic disciplines served through outreach, site visits, mail/email campaigns, marketing, and facilitation of partnerships with employers and academic programs. Collaborate with faculty for relevant employer internship experiences, ensuring seamless points of service on behalf of the university. Work closely with employers regarding their hiring needs and facilitate partnerships to promote them to students through Career Services, academic departments, and campus support providers. Facilitate all on-campus recruitment initiatives as requested by the office, to include scheduling, marketing, and site coordination on event days. Develop and utilize a tracking system and workflow to document internship experiences and other applied learning assignments across campus. Track employer engagements and outcomes, generate Career Services monthly reports on appointments, services, on-campus recruitment, programming initiatives, and other areas to assist with benchmarking office services. Represent Career Services at various corporate and campus functions to gain exposure across the community, state, and region.
LEAD THE JAGS ON CAMPUS INTERNSHIP (JOC) PROGRAM: Manage the budget for the JoC program ($250,000+.) Manage the Campus Internship Coordinator to ensure timely and consistent JoC operations. Establish timelines and deliverables across Human Resources to successfully onboard 50+ campus interns through fall and spring semesters. Manage all payroll, training of site mentors, professional development of campus interns, and the operational lifecycle of the program each semester. Develop training and development programs to support site mentors and campus interns. Evaluate program effectiveness and leverage a continuous improvement mindset to refine and grow the program. Ensure the JoC program aligns with the campus student employment framework in HR, addressing any needs for refinement.
CAREER SERVICES ADMINISTRATION: Provides support in advising students and recent graduates individually and in groups about career and professional development to ensure a positive transition through college to their post-graduate career plans. Lead and facilitate faculty relationships tied to internship-related matters on behalf of the University to ensure best practices. This includes faculty internship instructors, coordinators, etc. Manage the Cooperative Education program to include student/employer agreements, eligibility, managing the Co-op courses, and facilitating the registration and grades tied to those courses. Educate constituents about the tools, resources, and services available to assist in their career planning and goal attainment. Generate marketing materials to help promote Career Services resources to students and to promote services to defined academic areas. Develop campus and office-based programs and partnerships that promote and integrate career readiness skill development through internship and cooperative education experience. Collaborate with academic programs, student support areas, and faculty to align and customize resources for students by identifying career competencies and areas to develop in relation to the intersection of the student's education and career goals in specific professions. Maintain an expert status on all aspects of Career Services technology and campus systems to support internship execution, both internal and external to campus. Maintain all databases and student files pertinent to the management of office documentation for monthly, semester, and annual reporting purposes.

Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university required, with a minimum of two years of experience in career development, higher education administration, human resources, or related area.
