College/Department Information
The History, Anthropology, and Philosophy department offers undergraduate degrees in History and Anthropology, and teaches a broad range of core social science, lab science, and humanities courses. In addition to offering undergraduate BAs in Anthropology and History, the Department houses concentrations in Public History and Secondary Education teaching, as well as a minor in Philosophy and certificates in Museum Studies and Health Humanities. The department is home to an Archaeology lab, a Biological Anthropology teaching lab, and the director of the Guard House Museum. We are located on the beautiful and historic Summerville campus.
The Katherine Reese Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences forms the heart of the liberal arts mission of Augusta University. Job Summary
Provide administrative and secretarial support for the department, often of complex and confidential nature in support of the Department Chair.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Administrative Support:
- Assist with day to day operations of the department
- Greet visitors
- Answer phones
- Assist with maintaining office supplies and equipment
- Receive incoming correspondence and route to appropriate personnel.
- Assisting Chair with handling confidential matters related to faculty, staff, and students
- Maintaining Chair's Calendar and scheduling meetings when appropriate
- Assisting with student suspensions, reinstatements, and academic honesty process
- Coordinate and collect materials for faculty appointments and coordinate with other departments as appropriate
- Handling assignments that require a thorough knowledge of the college and institutional policies
- Provide backup coverage for other positions within the college as needed.
- Assist in planning and coordinating departmental programs and special events
- Complete documentation related to financial requests, including travel, purchase orders, and reimbursement for staff and faculty
- Contact vendors to service repairs
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in administrative support
OR
High School diploma, GED from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization, and six years of progressively responsible experience in administrative positions.

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills
ABILITIES
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines despite often interruptions, maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records, and make independent decisions.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Day/M-F
Pay Grade: B2
Salary Minimum: $15.77/hour - Midpoint: $18.89/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range of the position
