Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of PAE Communications, the Assistant Director, Communications & Media Design performs design audits and works with colleagues and clients to assess needs, design and prototype ideas, and produce/deploy solutions that reflect excellence and elevate the PAE division image. They govern and protect the visual integrity of the PAE division across all channels, digital, print, event, and executive communications, ensuring consistent, modern, and credible branding on a national scale. They will be part of building a system that makes quality repeatable: templates, standards, creative direction, workflows, and quality control.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Graphic/digital design and creation across mediums including print, digital, web, email, and social media.
Produces a wide range of visual content: digital newsletters, event invitations and programs, brochures, cases
for support, and annual impact/endowment/scholarship reports.
Collaborates with leadership and the PAE Communications director on the PAE brand campaign design,
development, and execution. Coordinates with the PAE Communications team and other internal clients to
gather information and materials needed for design
Brainstorm ideas and develop concepts for new design projects and execute them within the context of the
PAE brand. Illustrates established design concepts with rough layouts or art and copy regarding arrangement,
size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.
Assure successful outcomes by adopting best practice project management methodologies, quality assurance
metrics, and risk mitigation plans. Ensure the integrity, high-quality, and consistency of PAE's image, tone,
style, narrative, visual identity, and brand.
Operational efficiency, building a library of reusable components, templates, and toolkits streamlining project
workflow.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Graphic Design or related field and minimum of 3 years of experience.
Knowledge of Adobe Suite required.
Demonstrated ability to create innovative visual solutions and digital/graphic design.
Submission of a professional portfolio with application.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing for higher education or non-profit organizations a plus.
Motion graphics and/or animation skills and experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Excellent attention to detail, creativity, and time management skills.
Technological skills within the Microsoft Office suite required.
Must be able to work collaboratively with multiple PAE departments and individuals.
Curious mind, self-reliant, problem-solving skills a must.
Good professional communication skills, both oral and written.
Willingness to adjust to changing demands and shifting priorities.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Band: B11
Salary Range: $56,600/annually - $72,200/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
