The Rider University Libraries seeks two adjunct Reference Librarians (rank of Instructor-Librarian) with a broad background in music, theater, dance, and the general humanities (or a combination of these), for the 2023 spring semester, beginning January 23, 2023.

Work hours will be a combination of Monday-Thursday afternoons and evenings, with the schedule yet to be determined.

This faculty position will collaborate with other full-time and adjunct librarians to meet shifting priorities, needs, skill sets, and current responsibilities. The position does not directly supervise or manage staff.

Position Requirements

This position requires a completed ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS degree, or a minimum of twenty-four (24) credit hours completed toward the attainment of an ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS degree. This position also requires at least one year of experience providing in-person or virtual reference/research.

The successful candidate will also possess the following:

  • A demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
  • Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic workflows and changing schedules inherent to a dynamic academic library;

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s in music, theater, dance, or general humanities
  • Experience working in an academic fine arts library
  • Experience with RefWorks, LibGuides, and a variety of electronic resources
  • Experience in specialized print and electronic resources focused on the performing arts and general humanities
  • Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe
  • Experience with Sierra or other integrated library system
