Job Summary

The Academic Success Coordinator will plan, develop, and manage the implementation and monitoring of student academic support related to a college or school at Augusta University. The position will report to the Assistant Director of the Academic Success Center (ASC), a unit designed to support students seeking to improve their academic outcomes, from high-achieving individuals to those experiencing challenges, so they can reach their academic potential and degree goals.



The primary role of the Academic Success Coordinator is to be a student advocate and support their academic journey from beginning to end. Staff at the ASC work with students as individuals and in groups, building relationships and providing a range of support options that connect with the student lifecycle. They meet one-on-one with students in an assigned college for academic success planning and lead seminars and workshops to provide coaching in life skills/academic success strategies.



The ASC is a core unit in the Student Success arena, and the ASC Coordinator collaborates closely with staff from Academic Advisement and Career Services to support students as they progress from freshman to seniors. They are assigned to a college and partner with faculty and staff to learn program and faculty expectations, then develop student-centered academic enhancement programming to promote student persistence, retention, and graduation. These programming responsibilities include but are not limited to arranging one-on-one tutoring, small group tutoring, providing direct classroom and course support, and collaborating with college leadership and faculty to provide support options for students in the college.

The ASC Coordinator needs to have strong analytic skills and be comfortable with using data to inform decisions. This position requires strong data analysis skills to assess the effectiveness of programming, track student outcomes, monitor student progression and retention rates, and develop regular reports on student outcomes by college. Familiarity with Excel is key, and experience with student information systems such as EABNavigate is preferred. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential in this arena.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

ENGAGE WITH STUDENTS TO SUPPORT ACADEMIC SUCCESS: Meet one-on-one with students in assigned college to create success plans, track progress, and provide support. Host workshops in academic content area and success skills, such as study strategies and time management. Teach a one-hour credit course housed in the ASC as needed.

MANAGE THE ACADEMIC SUCCESS PROGRAMMING IN DESIGNATED AREAS THROUGH: Developing and maintaining academic support programming for a college.
Implementing effective processes for peer educators including recruitment, screening, orientations, pedagogical training programs, and professional development. Collaborate with unit staff to develop a comprehensive tutoring schedule each semester. Develop online education modules or support options as needed

ENGAGE IN DATA COLLECTION AND DEVELOP PROGRESS REPORTS THROUGH: Maintaining data related to student enrollment, attendance, and retention and tracking of benchmarks for program assessment. Creating regular reports on academic support services for an assigned college.

SUPPORT THE GOALS OF THE ASC THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSITY BY: Collaborating and communicating with faculty to ensure tutoring supports academic course content, arrange class-based workshops, and provide course learning assistants. Providing feedback and follow-up with faculty on student progress. In conjunction with the ASC leadership. serving as liaison and collaborating with appropriate University programs, services, and organizations to develop programming to promote student academic success.

OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or University in related field and two years of experience working with various student populations.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of program development, data gathering, assessment and evaluation skills.
Excellent problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to recognize opportunities and experience in developing innovative programs.
Flexible attitude and agile approach for a fast-paced work environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Demonstrated experience working with students for academic success.

Demonstrated experience with teaching, pedagogy and pedagogical strategies.

Demonstrated ability in working as part of a team, establishing rapport and collaborating with a variety of organization stakeholders.

Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint or comparable software programs.

Experience with BANNER and student tracking software preferred.

Multicultural competencies, knowledge and experience working and interacting effectively with diverse groups of staff, faculty, and student populations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Monday-Friday (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: 15

Salary: Minimum: $38,913- Midpoint:$52,533

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
