Job Summary:
The office of Professional Learning and Community Education (PLACE) facilitates engaging and impactful learning that connects the larger community with UW-Madison School of Education research and resources. Using the expertise of faculty, staff, and community stakeholders, PLACE develops and supports learning experiences in the arts, health, and education to enhance the quality of life in Wisconsin and beyond.

The Administrative Specialist reports to the Director of Business and Operations, and provides critical administrative support, including:
-managing daily financial, human resources (HR) and office management tasks
-purchasing goods and services including processing requisitions, purchase orders, payment to individuals and/or companies, airfare, and expense reimbursements
-overseeing payroll, recruitment, hiring, and job appointments
-arranging meetings of various shapes and sizes in locations nationwide
-acting as the first point of contact for people seeking information related to programming and events

Responsibilities:
Responsible for a variety of professional level work across a variety of administrative service areas including budget, finance, procurement, and human resources with impact across the institution in support of unit or institutional goals.
35% Implements and executes established policies and procedures for a designated work unit to adhere to unit objectives and to align with established strategies
35% Schedules logistics and secures resources for a designated work unit to contribute to the day-to-day operational success
10% Analyzes data and trends, compiles progress reports, and provides appropriate recommendations or conclusions in support of the assigned operational work unit(s)
10% Assists, recommends, and advises staff on unit or program administrative issues, personnel matters, and budgetary problems
5% Serves on committees and attends meetings, representing the interests of the unit or program
5% Schedules and organizes events focused on team building and creating community amongst staff
