Job Description
At the University of Oklahoma, the Shipping & Receiving Technician assists in the receiving, delivering, and storing of various materials following established standards. This position supports Property Control shipping and receiving warehouse operations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receiving, inspecting, recording, and logging materials into the inventory system
- Checks invoices against shipments
- Prepares and transports items to campus using university vehicles
- Sorts and forwards deliveries.
- Delivers supplies and/or materials using university vehicles.
- Accepts and signs for orders.
- Involved in daily administrative tasks
- Assists with inventory control and asset management.
- Assists with the delivery of materials and moving/lifting of equipment
- Loads and/or unloads surplus equipment or furniture from incoming and outgoing shipments
- Run errands as needed
- Maintains filing systems
- Sorts and forwards deliveries
- Performs related duties as assigned to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.
Job Requirements
Required Education: High school diploma or GED, AND:
- 6 months of experience in shipping and receiving.
Skills:
- Basic math and computer skills
- Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions
- Detail-oriented for accuracy of data and information
- General office skills such as multi-line phone, copying, filing, faxing, and mail
- Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to work independently
Certifications:
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date
Advertised Physical Requirements:
- Ability to engage in repetitive motion.
- Lift weight up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent moving, pulling, and carrying of non-uniform objects.
- Must be able to determine the condition of items by sight.
- Exposure to extreme temperature changes.
Departmental Preferences:
- Forklift Operator License
- Forklift Experience
- 1 year of inventory management or shipping and receiving experience
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Professional communication and a high customer service attitude.
