About the Department
The Ballet + Contemporary Dance Department at CCM is a professionally oriented program offering a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA) in Ballet with an emphasis in modern and contemporary training. The Department boasts a distinguished, dynamic faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, multiple performance opportunities, and a variety of new and challenging experiences for its students. Dedicated full-time faculty, along with adjunct faculty members, frequent guest artists, company directors, and professionals from the field are committed to nurturing highly technical, passionate, and artistic dancers. The Ballet + Contemporary Department has 54 undergraduate BFA Ballet majors. In addition to students majoring solely in ballet, some pursue dual majors, minors, or certifications in other complementary areas. Students attend and perform in festivals, attend conferences, and can receive advanced standing for certain experiences. The Dance Department is seeking to expand course offerings in Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Choreography, Dance History, Somatic Practices, Pilates, Dance Pedagogy, Professional Practice, Audition Techniques, Screen Dance/Dance for Camera, Anatomy, Conditioning, and related areas.
Dance students perform in the Corbett Center for the Performing Arts, an onsite facility which includes Corbett Auditorium, Patricia Corbett Theatre, Watson and Werner Recital Halls, and the Cohen Family Studio Theatre. Students have access to three dance studios, an onsite physical therapy room, dance locker rooms, smart classrooms, and a range of multidisciplinary facilities across the CCM Village. CCM also houses a large and active Preparatory Department offering a wide range of community dance classes and programs.

Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), a nationally prominent comprehensive college for the performing and media arts, seeks an experienced dance educator for a full-time tenure-track appointment, intended to begin August 15, 2025. Initial appointment is three years, after which the faculty member is eligible for reappointment.
Essential Functions
Serve as an instructor, advisor, and mentor
Teach courses which include ballet technique, and may include a combination of pointe, men’s/allegro, variations, character, and partnering
Teach courses as needed in secondary areas of strength, which may include labs, academic, studio, or technique
Assist the department in restaging classical works and ballets
Choreograph original works for the department
Develop and teach curricula that support student success in the current job market
Recruit and retain students of exceptional promise
Participate in departmental activities including recruitment, auditions, committee work, season planning, and student advising
Maintain regional, national, and international visibility through performance, directing, research, and/or creative activity
Serve the college and university community through activities such as committee membership, academic advising, and mentorship of students
Minimum Requirements
Prior to the effective date of the appointment, the successful candidate must have all of the following:
An M.F.A. in Dance or related field
Five (5) academic years of teaching experience in dance in a professional, pre-professional, conservatory, academy, or higher education setting. At least three (3) of those academic years must be in higher education.
