Job Summary
The Assistant Vice Provost (AVP) for Faculty Affairs is a 12-month tenured professor position reporting to the Provost who provides strategic vision and institutional support to develop and implement academic policies and programs related to faculty. Through inclusive, innovative leadership, the AVP works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and Academic Affairs administrators to develop and support faculty excellence, contributing to the institutional mission and strategic goals.

Responsibilities
In coordination with the Provost, the AVP provides institutional-level leadership in support of faculty. Specific duties include:

• Work closely with the Provost and Senior Vice President to advance institutions mission and strategic plan
• Manage policies and processes for faculty, including hiring, workload, pre-tenure review, promotion, tenure, post-tenure review, and faculty development
• Advance efforts to recruit, develop and retain excellent faculty
• Support innovative teaching practices and research
• Develop and oversee professional assessment and improvement plans
• Support the work of Provost Council, Graduate School, and Faculty Senate
• Coordinate with the Graduate School to support graduate faculty processes and policies
• Oversee faculty records management and accreditation (institutional and disciplinary) requirements related to faculty
• Promote effective use of teaching and learning facilities and technology resources both on campus and virtually, coordinating with IFE, UWG Online, and ORSP
• Address faculty and student grievances
• Assist direct reports with achieving professional and institutional goals
• Represent the institution a variety of external constituents
• Perform a variety of related duties

Required Qualifications
The Assistant Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs must have successful administrative experience in supervision of non-tenure-track, tenure-track, and tenured faculty and an earned doctorate, terminal degree, or equivalent. The AVP must possess a progressive record of increasing academic leadership, a distinguished record of teaching, scholarly achievement, and professional accomplishments sufficient to qualify for appointment at the rank of professor. Within the context of the opportunities and challenges of 21st century higher education, the AVP must demonstrate:

• Ability to successfully cultivate an environment of inclusiveness and excellence
• Leadership in assessing the effectiveness and needs of policies, services and strategies undertaken to academic support, career development, and faculty support
• Skill in analyzing data and sharing results on a frequent and regular basis with academic colleges and other university constituents
• Ability to build cohesive partnerships with academic colleges and other partners across the institution
• Creativity in addressing needs related to academic mission and functions
• Ability to work closely with academic, shared governance structures to foster academic excellence
• Experience with accreditation
• Strong written and interpersonal skills
• Successful history of strategic planning, resource stewardship, and assessment
