Job Summary
To further strengthen the university's student success infrastructure, Augusta University will establish a new position: Assistant Vice President for Student Success and Retention. This portfolio will provide leadership for the university's student success strategy, assessment, data-informed decision-making, and student support operations.The following units will transition to this new division:
- Academic Advising
- Center for Learning and Academic Student Success (CLASS)
- Health Professions Outreach (HPO)
Bringing these areas together will strengthen the university's ability to coordinate student support services, leverage analytics to identify opportunities for intervention, evaluate the effectiveness of student success initiatives, and implement evidence-based strategies that improve retention, persistence, and graduation outcomes.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP:
Develop and implement a comprehensive student success strategy aligned with institutional goals.
Lead university-wide retention and completion initiatives.
Coordinate efforts among academic and administrative units to create integrated student support systems.
Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on student success metrics and outcomes.
STUDENT SUCCESS INNOVATION:
Design targeted interventions for first-year, transfer, online, adult, military-affiliated, Pell-eligible, first-generation, and underserved student populations.
Evaluate the effectiveness of advising, tutoring, mentoring, and student support
programs.
Recommend new strategies based on proven practices and emerging research.
DATA ANALYTICS AND DECISION SUPPORT:
Partner with Institutional Research to analyze retention, progression, graduation, and enrollment trends.
Develop predictive models to identify at-risk students and populations.
Create executive dashboards and key performance indicators.
Conduct demographic and academic analyses to identify achievement gaps and opportunities for intervention.
ASSESSMENT AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT:
Measure ROI and effectiveness of student success initiatives.
Develop annual student success reports and recommendations.
Establish benchmarks and performance measures aligned with institutional strategic plans.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited College or University.
5-7 years of progressively responsible higher education leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated success increasing retention and graduation rates. Expertise in predictive analytics, student success technologies, CRM systems, and business intelligence tools.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Strong knowledge of enrollment management, student success theory, and assessment methodologies.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B17
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position

Conditions of Employment
