Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Business Officer position is a member of theFacilities management team and is responsible for developing departmental budgets, training and guiding department heads on financial matters, reconciling funds, writing and maintaining policies and procedures; reviewing and facilitating improvements to administrative processes; data integrity and reporting.

This position is also responsible for reporting construction and project activity to General Administration using Interscope.

This position has been designated as mandatory personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area and two years of administrative management or business management experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Proven experience in managing administrative tasks and budgets effectively.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations and develop effective solutions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with university faculty and staff.

Required Certifications or Licensures
A valid NC Driver’s license or the ability to obtain one in 30 days.
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Facilities Administration Department provides administrative services to the office of Facilities units. This includes review of processes in purchasing and hiring, planning and budgeting, and the reporting of financial, cost and performance information, inventory management including stocked items and shop supplies. Services include developing and maintaining policies and procedures manuals for each unit; re-engineering administrative processes and work design; compiling plans and assessment data; and assisting with facilities group budgets. Accounting services include management of utility accounts, university-wide billing, and cost studies as directed by the Associate Vice Chancellor and others. This unit is a resource and liaison for the university’s Finance, Budget and Human Resource departments, and also serves as a customer care and problem resolution office.
